Us army prior service business rules

Can the prior service enlist the army again? Airforce take prior service Army? Can you join the military with prior service? What exactly does prior military service mean?


Prior Service Accession Business Rules for enlistments into the Regular Army.

The rules generally outline when and how a Soldier can reenlist, and which MOSs are available. Transfer to active duty Army and bring your military experience to a full-time job. Are you currently serving in the Air Force or Navy? The Air Force defines prior service as persons who have served at least months of Active Duty service without regard to regular component or continuous service in the Armed Forces.

Individuals with less than months of Active Duty are considered previous service. The Secretary of Defense shall prescribe regulations, which shall apply uniformly among the Army , Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps, to authorize the Secretary of the military department concerned to limit the amount of prior commissioned service with which a person receiving an original appointment may be credited under paragraph (1), or to deny any such credit, in the case of a person who at the time of such appointment is credited with constructive service under subsection (b) or (e). If applicant has been awarded an MOS and enlists within months from the date released from active duty (IADT), the enlistment pay grade will be the grade held at time of release from IADT but not less than E-2. The current prior service business rules state “Applicants in the grade of E-and below with months or less active duty are not restricted to the HRC business rules to serve in a targeted MOS as identified by the ROC.


This means that I should be able to re-enlist into any mos right as long as it’s open? For those of you not familiar with the business rules. They just opened up the damn flood gates for prior service ! All mos’ available except the following for eand below.

The purpose of this message is to announce new guidance on PS Accession Business Rules and Enlisted Call to AD for enlistments into the RA. You may or may not be asked to complete a new physical and new ASVAB.


There may be other conditions that must be met as well. Prior - service personnel from the Air Force, Navy and Coast Guard entering the active Army or reserve components must attend BCT, regardless of the length of their break in service , if they have not attended Army or Marine Corps basic training, or special operations training for the Air Force or Navy, or Air Force security police. Soldiers will not be reclassified solely because they are not performing duties in their PMOS.

However, Soldiers will be routinely reclassified as follows: (1) Administrative reclassification of an MOS— (a) For normal career progression.
