Unaccompanied minors service

How to book a flight for an unaccompanied minor? How do the airlines handle unaccompanied minors? How much does the unaccompanied minor service cost?


This service is commonly abbreviated to ‘UMS’. The quality of the service may vary depending on the airline, and the staff delivering the service. For safety, we require children age – traveling alone to use our unaccompanied minor service.

For children age – 1 this service is optional. We charge a $1unaccompanied service fee (plus tax, where applicable) each way, in addition to the ticket price. Our unaccompanied minor service is required for children who are 5-years old and traveling without a parent, legal guardian or someone who is at least years old.


This fee covers additional siblings on the same flight. They can’t use our unaccompanied minor service on codeshare flights and other flights operated by our partner airlines. For additional information, please view our Contract of Carriage.


If the child is traveling on SAS Youth tickets he or she cannot use this service. Some countries require written consent from a parent or legal guardian for children age 12–traveling alone without assistance. If two or more unaccompanied minors are from the same family and traveling on the same flights, the fee is still just $1(plus tax) each way.

The unaccompanied minors (UMNR) program is mandatory for children between the ages of five and under years. Surprisingly, although British Airways has done away with its Solo Flyer Service , the unaccompanied minor service isn’t completely. The Safe Release Support Program is a network of agencies around the nation who coordinate with Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS) to serve.


The URM program ensures that eligible unaccompanied minor populations receive the full range of assistance, care and services available to all foster children in the state by establishing a legal authority to act in place of the child’s unavailable parent (s). They will NOT be permitted on connecting flights, International flights, or domestic flights that include a scheduled change of aircraft. Departing minors are accompanied from the agreed pick-up points at the airport or car parks, all the way to the Check-in Hall and the Departures Gate. Unaccompanied minors service is available to guide and assist passengers under the age of 14. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).


The children are known as unaccompanied alien children (UAC). So a round trip will cost you $3in service fees plus the remaining tax (plus the amount of your airline ticket). If there are two or more unaccompanied minors from the same family then you only have to pay the $1service fee one time. The service is available for children aged to 17.


Minors over the age of twelve may travel alone or with an adult who is not a parent or guardian provided they have written consent from their parent or legal guardian. Only adult passengers (years of age or older) may act as accompanying adults for minors (under age 12). They are provided the same service as for children between and years of age.


Flight restrictions The Porter Airlines unaccompanied minors service is not available on interline, connecting, or through flights (flights with a stop-over). Children should be accompanied to the airline check-in desk at the airport of departure with all necessary travel. We have created the Kids Solo service for children traveling alone: Our staff accompany your child and ensures his or her safety throughout the journey.


Escort service is mandatory for unaccompanied minors aged between to end of traveling on a code share flight but escort is optional on Ethiopian flights provided only when special attention is requested by the guardian.

Children ages years and older are accepted for travel unaccompanied.
