Community service policy

What is community policy? A community service program is a formal program through which a company commits its efforts to giving back to the community. For some companies this may mean having organized volunteer activities, such as a beach clean-up. For others, it may involve giving paid time off to employees to volunteer.

A person cannot just apply for community service leave.

If you are applying for such leave, then you must be a part of the recognised group or management association that is helping the downtrodden. An employee is eligible to take the equivalent of two regularly scheduled workdays to a maximum of sixteen (16) hours per calendar year (January through December 31) for community activities. You can also start your own community service projects. Some students are required to complete community service as part of a class requirement in order to graduate high school or become a member of certain organizations, such as the National Honor Society. If the policy is not followed as state the student will be denied the volunteering opportunity. Temporary expansion of leave policies have been authorized to assist state employees who live or work in counties with mandatory or voluntary evacuations, or who reside in areas that remain dangerous due to flooding, debris or power outages. Paid release time under this program only applies to Ignatian Center-run community service programs or immersion programs.
