Repairing neoprene waders

How to patch leaking waders? What to use for neoprene repair? Fix , Fill, Patch and Seal Neoprene Wetsuits, Hip Waders or any Watertight Clothing or Neoprene ! QUALITY Made in the USA!

Locate the puncture or tear by rolling up the neoprene waders.

Push the waders into water. Follow the trail of air bubbles to the leak. Unroll the waders with the damaged area facing up. To repair any neoprene waders you may need to fill your waders with water to find the leak but in most cases the leak should be easy to find.

Look for tears, or punctures in the material. You then can apply a liberal amount of Aquaseal or SG-(a flexible epoxy like material) to the leaky area to seal it again. Turn the lights out in.

Yesterday I felt that cold moist feeling that all stream anglers drea a leaking pair of waders.

Prep the Curing Area – Once you’ve applied. My Hodgeman bootfoot neoprenes seem to have sprung a leak some where near the top of the right boot. I gave them a quick once over last night after I got back to the car and could not find any obvious hole.

With the exception of Simms Waders, technical fabrics can be placed in a dryer. Tumble dry on a warm setting at ten minute intervals is best. The warmth of the dryer can also renew the DWR (durable water repellent) treatment on the fabric. This is what causes water to bead up and run off the fabric.

Spraying Plasti-Dip along the seam tape will patch the seam. Sometimes the tape will actually peel off as the Plasti-Dip begins to dry. I simply remove the seam tape and then continue to apply more spray-on Plasti-Dip were the seam tape was.

Dampen a cloth with a small amount of paint thinner or acetone nail-polish remover. Clean the area to be repaired using the dampened cloth.

Use scissors to trim away any loose threads. Close the tear with a strip of tape on the inside of your waders. Light will shine through. I use Aquaseal on all my boots when new Put a bead on seams before they leak This strengths the seam especially if you are walking a lot to get to spot.

There are a few ways I found useful: Put a low pressure air hose (e.g. a blower side of a vacuum cleaner) into the waders and tie it off at the chest opening. If you don’t have that kind of a vacuum cleaner, fill the wader’s legs with water (one leg at a time), and rub each leg. It’s easiest to lay your fishing waders flat on the floor or table, repair the first side and leave to cure for a few hours before repeating the process on the opposite side. On this particular pair of chest waders we found a pin hole tear caused by a thorn or bramble which dragged along the front of the wader material. We will do everything possible to repair them for a reasonable fee of $40.

Nylon, neoprene , Gortex, etc. The only other problem I’ve had with Goop is not keeping it on, but getting it off. We put a hole in a boat once in Canada and I patched it with a Bud can cut flat and a bunch of Goop.

Back home a few weeks later the repair shop called an said what is this stuff?
