LIFELINE has over 7blood drives a year in order to meet the needs of the communities we serve. The of the antibody tests are only shared with the donor and not reported to the state health department. There are blood drives around the state every week. Donors can also visit the facility in Flowood.
By donating exclusively red blood cells, you can help fulfill the transfusion needs of two patients. During a procedure called apheresis, whole blood is separated through a cell separator and red blood cells are collected. The remainder of the blood components are returned to the donor along with saline to replace the lost volume.
